The Stafford Air & Space Museum is a 63,000 sq ft museum named in honor of Lt. General Thomas P. Stafford, a native of Weatherford. Graduating from the US Naval Academy, General Stafford is a recipient of the Congressional Space Medal of Honor. A veteran of four space flights, he piloted Gemini VI, and commanded Gemini IX, Apollo 10 and the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Mission.

The museum boasts one of the few actual Titan II rocket launch vehicles on display. Numerous items acquired from the Smithsonian include: actual Gemini VI capsule, Gemini flight suit, space food, survival items flown to the moon on Apollo 11 and the actual flight pressure suit General Stafford wore on Apollo 10, which was the first flight of the lunar module to the moon. The museum has an actual swatch and piece of the propeller of the original Wright Flyer taken to the moon by Neil Armstrong.

Other displays at the Stafford Air & Space Museum in Weatherford include flown aircraft, including a Russian MiG21R, A-10, F-4, F104, F16, F15, T-38, F-86. Full-size replicas displayed include the Wright Flyer, Spirit of St. Louis, Apollo Command Module and Lunar Module. The museum also features an Educational Center, flight simulation computer lab and more.
